COLUMBIA — Bob Dynamite will celebrate more than just his 17th birthday on Saturday. It is also the first time his artwork will be the only art gracing the walls of a gallery. His collection, called “People Saying Stuff,” consists of 10 paintings on varying sizes of scrap wood.
About two months ago, Kim Partney, the director of the Career Awareness Related Experience program, suggested a showing of Dynamite’s work in the CARE Gallery.
Since then, Dynamite has been working non-stop to collect scrap wood from mulch piles or from friends.
“I just want people to go,” Dynamite said. “If they tell their friends, maybe they’ll notice my work, keep an eye on me and buy stuff from me later.”
His work will only be up for two hours on Saturday at the gallery because the students and artists who work there will return Monday. The gallery was cleared out specially for this show.
