There’s always one. “Oh, I don’t know. I don’t really need anything.” Why not help yourself out by letting that person help others? Giving a charitable contribution (in addition to being tax-deductible) can cut down on resources that go into the creation and transportation of “stuff,” while helping those that need it more.
“I think the best thing about donating your time and money during the holidays is you really feel better about yourself,” said Cindy Mustard, executive director of the Voluntary Action Center. So there’s that, too.
Just think: no sizes to guess, no redundancies to avoid and nothing to wrap.
“The five, 10 or 15 dollar gift can go so much farther for someone or a family in need,” Mustard said. “That’s the whole idea of the holidays: giving back.”
