Wilbert F. Wegener
Wilbert F. Wegener of Lenoir Woods Retirement Community in Columbia, died Tuesday May, 27 2008, at Boone Hospital Center. He was 86.
Mr. Wegener was born March 31, 1922, in Marthasville to Florence and Clara Wegener.
He married Eda Furzeland on March 8, 1947.
Mr. Wegener was a veteran of World War II. He earned a Master of Science in civil engineering at the former University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla.
After 32 years working for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation traveling to many parts of the country, he retired to his home in Mexico, Mo., where he and his wife raised their daughters.
Mr. Wegener was a city councilman in Mexico, an elder in the Mexico First Presbyterian Church and active in the Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife; and two daughters, Susan Hazelwood and Carol Wegener, both of Columbia.
His sister, Ruth Hughes, of Warrenton, died earlier.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Epple Chapel at Lenoir Woods.
