William R. "Brownie" Brown

COLUMBIA — William R. “Brownie” Brown died Friday, May 23, 2008, in Mountain Home, Ark. He was 84.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Bowling Green, Ky., to Lewis John and Margaret Pauline (Combs) Brown. He married Ida Ruth Younce on Nov. 19, 1944, in Fallon, Nev., where he worked as a fireman. He moved from Pacific to Mountain Home, Ark., where he lived for 13 years.
Mr. Brown was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Mr. Brown is survived by one son, Thomas Brown of Joplin; four daughters, Lillian Nieves of Washington, Mo., Susan Dale of Gulfport, Miss., Paula Dailey of Pacific, and Debbie Martin of Oakland, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and friend, Eleanor Zimney.
His wife and parents died earlier.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at Kirby and Family Funeral Home, 600 Hospital Drive, Mountain Home, Ark. Services, conducted by the Rev. David Gadbaw, will be at 2 p.m. today at Kirby and Family Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis.
