Dorothy M. Hitzeroth
COLUMBIA — Dorothy M. Hitzeroth of Columbia died Monday, May 19, 2008, at the Lenoir Woods Health Center. She was 85.
She was born on April 11, 1923, in Milwaukee to Edward and Anna Bissell.
Mrs. Hitzeroth was a graduate of the University of Illinois and a longtime member of the American Association of University Women. She was an active supporter of the American Ex-POW organization and was also a member of the Evangelical Free Church.
She married Franklin C. Hitzeroth on July 14, 1945. He died earlier.
Mrs. Hitzeroth is survived by three sons, Todd Hitzeroth of Canyon Country, Calif., Mark Hitzeroth of Columbia, and Ryan Hitzeroth of Alexandria, Va.; two grandsons, Matthew Hitzeroth of Sherman Oaks, Calif. and Spencer Hitzeroth of Arcata, Calif., and a granddaughter, Gretchen Hitzeroth of Canyon Country, Calif.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, Ill.
