Steven Douglas Cox

Steven Douglas Cox was an outgoing man who had a love of computer games.
“He had a lot of friends that he made through the computer game networks,” said Dr. Randall Smith, a longtime friend and doctor of Mr. Cox.
Mr. Cox, of Columbia, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 45.
He was born May 30, 1962, in St. Louis to Floyd D. and Deleta (Shaw) Cox.
Mr. Cox attended Columbia College and received a degree that allowed him to teach mathematics. He went on to teach math to inmates at the Moberly Correctional Center who were trying to attain their GEDs, Smith said.
He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after becoming paralyzed from the waist down.
Mr. Cox is survived by his mother, Deleta (Shaw-Cox) Kalivoda, and her husband, Ted; two sons, Steven Douglas Cox II and Robert Mitchum Cox; a sister, Cheryl; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
His father and a brother, Greg Cox, died earlier.
